The Senior Project Engineer is expected to be able to determine causes of unusual occurrences and applies standard principles and practices to determine and implement solutions. Additionally, the Engineer should be able to create plans and perform the implementation of those plans for the customer.  They are expected to prepare and present project plans to a broad variety of audiences, both internal and external; as well as the ability to incorporate new facts and ideas into group processes and apply creative thinking to develop new solutions.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems associated with servers, hardware/software and networking
  • Installs, configures and maintains operating hardware and software
  • Provides recommendations for hardware and software planning and budgeting related issues
  • Provides recommendations and updates to client standards and participates in quarterly standards reviews
  • May train and/or supervise project staff and provide technical leadership
  • Consults with management and clients to discuss project needs including system capacity, equipment acquisitions, networking needs, security requirements and implementation
  • Works with users, managers, and executives to identify and document system, application or functional requirements
  • Recommends new design architectures to meet specific client hardware, software and networking needs including implementation
  • Troubleshoots advanced issues presented by the Service Desk, identifying problem(s) and finding the resolution, including preventing the same issue in the future
  • Stays abreast of latest product upgrades and trends and recommends changes in standards as technology changes.
  • Maintaining effective relationships with peers, vendors, and clients in a diverse environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server, Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft email systems
  • Advanced knowledge of administering environments
  • Advanced knowledge in networking
  • Experience in configuring and running Microsoft DHCP and DNS services as well as configuring and administering firewalls, internet filtering and Intrusion Protection Systems
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Cisco Meraki environments preferred
  • Working knowledge of telecommunications systems
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Systems Engineering from an accredited university plus 10 years industry experience
  • Certifications in appropriate areas, i.e., MCSE, CNA, CCNA, CAPM etc. are preferred
